The Visit of Pope Benedict XVI

On Saturday September 26th 2009, the Pope, bishop of Rome and successor of St. Peter will come to Prague. Pope Benedict XVI, the 265th pope, birth name Joseph Ratzinger, will arrive at the Ruzyně airport and will receive a welcoming ceremony; from there he will visit the pilgrimage site the Church of Our Lady Victorious where the famous Bambino of Prague resides. He will then meet with the Czech president Václav Klaus and other politicians and later in the evening will celebrate the evening prayer service in St. Vitus. On the 27th the Pope will celebrate mass in Brno and on the 28th the Holy Father will travel to Stará Boleslav where he will visit the Basilica of St. Wenceslas and celebrate mass there as well. There will be a farewell ceremony at Ruzyně airport.
