A series of music and dance performances from famous Baroque operas and ballets of the 17th and 18th centuries “Opera Barocca” will amuse Prague for three weeks in August. On 13 nights between the 1st of August and 22nd August 2011 top Czech artists specializing in the authentic interpretation of Baroque music and dance will perform in the courtyard of the Clam-Gallas Palace. The performances will always start at 8:15 p. m. under any weather. The emphasis with all productions is put on the comprehensiveness capturing the atmosphere of the time, scenography, authenticity of period costumes, original choreography, Baroque gestures and make-up. Carnevale Baroque Orchestra (Hipocondria Ensemble) will play pieces and arias from the most famous works of J.B. Lully, M. Marais, A. Campra, G.F. Händel, F. Finger, T. Albinoni, G. Bononcini, A. Vivaldi, J. Mysliveček and W. A. Mozart. Period dances of the 17th and 18th centuries will be performed alternatively by Danseurs Nobles and Hartig Ensemble.
