Pictures from ashes of deceased people to be seen at Dvorak Sec Contemporary

Roman Týc, a member of the guerrilla artist collective Ztohoven (the name contains two phrases: Sto hoven – Hundred shits and Z toho ven – Out of it) created pictures from ashes of deceased people, which can be seen at the Prague Dvorak Sec Contemporary gallery from the 27th of September till the 25th of November 2011. With the exhibition called Grave Robber, the artist wants to open up a discussion on the, in his opinion, unhealthy relation of the contemporary society to death. For creating the pictures Týc used surpluses of ashes from crematoriums that allegedly end up often without piety on garbage dumps. The most famous work of Roman Týc is his project Traffic Lights from 2007 in which he replaced the common symbols of static figures on 50 pedestrian traffic lights in Prague with symbols of persons shown in various situations (sitting, crucified, peeing, relaxing, etc.).
