Messer Chups to Play for Akropolis' Birthday

On the occasion of the 16th birthday of Prague’s Palác Akropolis the Messer Chups from Saint Petersburg, Russia will play on Saturday November 12th. The Messer Chups duet that enlivens the esthetics of American low-budget horror movies and trash culture of the 1960s and 1970s with zombies and vampires will perform with their circus-music show from 7:30 p.m. Messer Chups were formed in the late 1990s in Germany's Hamburg where the veteran of the St. Petersburg rock scene, Oleg Gitarkin, met a local key player Annette Schneider. A somewhat eccentric esthetic of the band developed from a common interest in American trash culture. After the return to Russia Gitarkin released the debut album Monster And Monster in 1999 also presenting Lydia Kavina, an excellent player of Theremin, an electronic musical instrument. Since 2004, the second member of the band has been a guitar player calling herself Zombie Girl. Messer Chups have released ten studio albums, the last one being Heretic Channel two years ago. The advance sale of tickets for the birthday concert will be at the cafe of Palác Akropolis and at Ticketpro.
