Between January 11th and 15th, 2012 the Prague Světozor cinema will host the Festival of Iranian Films, the first festival of its kind in the Czech Republic. Its aim is to introduce to the Czech audience the contemporary Iranian cinematography through movies, many of which were awarded at prestigious international film festivals. The program of the festival is divided into three sections – feature films will be connected through the theme of women, with the main protagonists or directors being female, while the documentary section called Teheran and the Short Films section will present up-to-date topics in Iranian society, such as drug addiction, religious tradition and social problems. The festival will present movies of globally renowned directors, such as Niki Karimi, Kambuzia Partovi, Asghar Farhadi, Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Pirooz Kalantari and Kamran Shirdel.
