22nd Prague Writers' Festival

Between April 14th and 18th 2012 the New Stage of the National Theater will host already the 22nd year of the Prague Writers' Festival. This year the festival will look into the future, as its topic will read “Only the Future Exists”. The invited writers, editors of renowned global newspapers, as well as general public will try to answer questions related to the future, such as How do we see our future?, Is the present hysterical?, Do we live in the shadow of the future? and other questions. The participating writers will include one of the most significant American poets John Ashbery, the British writer Hanif Kureishi, Anita Desai, an Indian writer by origin who was nominated for the Booker Prize several times and the provocative Dutch writer Anton Grunberg. Martin Vopěnka will represent the Czech Republic. Like every year public readings, debates, book signings and more will accompany the festival.
