On Friday June 1, 2012 you can look forward to the fourth year of the Church Night event and admire the beauty of Christian fine art and the architectural treasures of Prague churches, as well as other sacred buildings all over the Czech Republic. Only on this evening will visitors have the possibility to see interiors of specific churches including treasured works of art that normally remain hidden from sight. The original idea to open churches to visitors at night came from Vienna seven years ago and in 2009 the Czech organizers were also inspired by it. Besides the organizing Catholic Church almost all other Christian Churches united in the Ecumenical Council of Churches in the Czech Republic will take part. Last year almost one thousand churches opened to the general public and the event was met with a lot of public interest. Each year visitors can look forward to a rich cultural-spiritual accompanying program. A detailed list of churches from all parts of Prague that have joined Church Night and their program can be found at www.nockostelu.cz.
