In the fair month of August through the charmingly festive month of December, the gorgeous Clam-Gallas Palace will once again open its large palace doors to the Opera Barocca music and dance series. Famous Baroque operas and ballets from the 17th and 18th centuries will capture your imagination and leave you with fond memories of this intriguing Prague cultural event. It is important to note that comprehensive emphasis is put on everything Baroque, from the atmosphere (lit candles only, no electricity!) to the scenography, costumes, instruments, original choreography, gestures, make-up and more. During the warmer months, guests will enjoy a true Baroque atmosphere in the candle lit courtyard of the Clam-Gallas Palace where they will listen to hauntingly lovely music, watch talented dancers twirl and observe the sky turn purple and then dark blue. In the winter months the opera concerts and dance performances will be held indoors, where the interior beauty of the authentic Baroque palace will mesmerize guests. At the Opera Barocca festival you will hear pieces and arias from the most famous works of such composers as J.B. Lully, M. Marais, A. Campra, G.F. Händel, F. Finger, T. Albinoni, G. Bononcini, A. Vivaldi, J. Mysliveček and W. A. Mozart, performed by Carnevale Baroque Orchestra – Hipocondria Ensemble. The Danseurs Nobles and the Hartig Ensemble perform the 17th and 18th century dances. Carnevale Praha organizes Opera Barocca in cooperation with the Institute of Baroque Culture. For further information regarding ticket sales and more, visit www.operabarocca.cz or www.ticketpro.cz.
