Based on the famous Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Prague Fringe Festival has been entertaining worthy participants since 2001 when two Scots and an English Lass decided to bring the festival’s well reputed magic to Prague. The Fringe Festival in Prague is held in atmospheric Mala Strana or the Lesser Quarter of Prague, a dreamy place full of winding cobblestone lanes, hidden gardens, Baroque palaces, and of course cool venues! This year marks the ninth Fringe Festival in Prague and will draw in 40 artistic groups performing in about 200 shows combining independent entertainment magic in dance, theater, music and comedy. The Fringe Festival in Prague also features some short films. The festival takes place in seven venues with each venue hosting a variety of performances daily. Tickets are 150Kc for a performance, however, the festival is offering the opening day tickets on May 28 for only 100Kc, or you can purchase a Fringe Voucher at Ticketstream outlets that is five full price tickets for the price of four (600Kc). Student tickets are 50Kc and can only be purchased at the theaters and with a student I.D. Due to the festival's overwhelming popularity it is recommended to show up early for performances to catch a good seat.
