Pavement, clearly one of the most important and influential American alternative/indie bands of the 90s and one of the founders of the Lo-Fi movement (along with Sebadoh), will play in Prague on May 20th at the intimate Palac Akropolis at 7:30 p.m. The band was founded as a studio project by Stephen Malkmus and Scott Kannberg in the late eighties and released its debut album Slanted & Enchanted which provoked excited reactions from both critics and fans in 1992. The debut was followed by four other albums, all of which are considered true classics of the indie rock genre by many. The group disbanded in 1999, shortly after the release of the Terror Twilight album. The following years saw plenty of successful solo work from the former Pavement members. In 2009, a reunion was announced which eventually took a form of a world tour, one stop of which Prague-based Pavement fans will be able to experience.
