Classical entertainment and music is very popular in Prague and with numerous renovated palaces turned venues you will be pleased with the selection of performances. You will notice as you walk through the labyrinth of lanes in Old Town many advertisements for concerts all over the city; these are performed often and at very affordable prices. Classical music became popular in the Czech Republic during the National Revival with talented composers such as Dvorak, Smetana and Janacek emerging into the world of music. They incorporated folk legends and melodies into their music, most notably Smetana with his opera Dalibor and Libuse, which is about the legendary Princess Libuse and her vision of a great city called Praha. The main three resident orchestras are Prague Symphony Orchestra, The Czech National Symphony Orchestra, and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Prague Ballet performances take place in the National Theater, the Estates Theater, and the State Opera House while classical plays and musicals can be found at the Vinohrady Theater.
