Činoherní klub

During its fifty years of existence and since its origin in 1965 Činoherní klub at Ve Smečkách near Wenceslas Square in Prague has left traces in several generations of spectators. Its performances are usually sold out to the last seat and very popular. The core of the repertoire of the theater, which was founded by two former classmates from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague – director Ladislav Smoček and Jaroslav Vostrý, has been from the very beginning mainly contemporary Czech plays, Russian traditional drama and contemporary British and American drama. Plays staged at the theater are usually plays with a sense for contemporary times and atmosphere, be they new or old plays. Among artists who are part of the local troupe are such excellent Czech actors and actresses as Ondřej Vetchý, Ivana Chýlková, Petr Nárožný, Marek Taclík, Nela Boudová, Jaromír Dulava and more. Činoherní klub owes to its lasting popularity and great numbers of spectators mainly thanks to its proverbial precision in dramatic work and emphasis on mutual cooperation of all involved. Besides common theater tickets the theater also sells discounted tickets for standing for CZK 30.
