The network of CineStar multiplex cinemas opened in the Czech Republic in 2001 and is one of the biggest in the Czech Republic. CineStar multiplexes are equipped with the state-of-the-art projection technology with the perfect sound system of Dolby Digital and Dolby Surround EX. All CineStar multiplexes also feature a high-quality technology that enables screenings of 3D movies with active 3D LCD glasses. The two Prague CineStar locations (former Village Cinemas multiplex cinemas) can be found in the vicinity of Anděl and Černý Most metro stations. Visitors to the CineStar Anděl cinema have three hours of free parking in underground garages at their disposal, while parking in Černý Most is free for an unlimited period of time. Other nine CineStar multiplexes are spread all over the Czech Republic – in Hradec Králové, Olomouc, Ostrava, Jihlava, České Budějovice, Plzeň, Liberec, Mladá Boleslav and Pardubice. The featured films are a mixture of top releases from Hollywood, Europe and the Czech Republic. All Hollywood and British movies are shown in English with Czech subtitles, except for films for children, which are dubbed in Czech. During early spring the Anděl location features select films from the Febiofest, one of the largest film festivals in Central Europe, usually showing over 4,000 feature length, experimental, animated and documentary films in Prague clubs, theaters and galleries. CineStar Anděl also holds live broadcasts of opera performances from the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
