Flambée

Once inside Flambée, a popular restaurant among international VIPs and a holder of the prestigious Moet Chandon Dom Perignon award, you are gently embraced by the exposed stonewalls of the dining area as the smartly dressed waiters guide you to your table. The dining area is situated in an impressive Romanesque and Late Gothic vault dating back to the 11th century that has been meticulously renovated and richly decorated and even awarded an international architecture prize in 1994. The polished, black marble floor creates a sense of occasion as it reflects the plush, refined surroundings. The sophistication of the surroundings is matched by the excellence of the International cuisine, prepared by award winning Chef Fabian Gysi. The menu includes hot starters such as the Sesame crusted Ahi tuna with truffle soy vinaigrette and Thai rice garnish and the Foie Gras medallions with quince compote and tangerine gremolata, plus cold starters such as the Green pepper marinated ham of ostrich with grilled pineapple and sweet chili glaze and the Venison and Foie Gras carpaccio served with fig and Hennessey dressing. The fish menu served at Flambée includes the mouthwatering European sea bass with coconut and lemon grass and a balsamic reduction, served with stir fried string vegetables and goat cheese crocquettes and the Halibut with potato crust, leek and shitake miso broth. Flambée also offers a Half Canadian lobster with a fresh herb crust, angel hair pasta and arugula green bean salad with citrus Crème fraîche. The meat menu at Flambée includes delicious choices such as the Pan roasted duck breast on Sardinian couscous and coriander with toasted pine nuts and Frangelico jus or the classic Chateaubriand for 2 persons with artichoke, mushrooms and bacon mille feuille, chervil potato puree, whipped bacon and shalot sauce. Flambée features as well a Tasting Menu and of course, scrumptious dessert such as sorbets, ice creams, Flambéed crepes with Grand Marnier, served with a blood orange and Amaretto sorbet. If your month is not watering by now, you should know that Flambée also hosts an early Romanesque wine cellar that dates back to the 8th century and houses an exceptional wine collection that is quite frankly, a sanctuary for wine experts and lovers. Flambée also features a Depositary for Dom Perignon Champagne, which showcases vintage bottles of the exquisite bubbles.
