A unique experience awaits in the heart of Prague. The restaurant Pod Kridlem Noci (loosely translated to under the wings of night) specializes in a new type of dining. First designed to employ blind people and others with slight handicaps, the idea blossomed in Zurich in 1999. A novel idea, dining in the dark, how would you see to eat your dinner? This idea grew and now dining in absolute darkness has captured the heart of many Europeans cities such as London, Paris, Beijing and Moscow. Now it has come to Prague. Without sight, your other senses naturally would be heightened, your sense of smell and taste especially. Imagine tasting food without seeing it, you would taste the food with completely different perceptions! The restaurant offers two different worlds, the world of light and the world of darkness; given the choice the world of light seems a bit boring. You choose your meal before entering the darkness; there are three choices; Chicken consomme with julienne vegetables and Celestine noodles, veal medallions with balsamic onions and mashed potatoes, or the veil of mystery menu. The chicken and veal also come with traditional apple strudel and coffee or tea. As for the dessert of the mystery menu, it is a secret of course. I would recommend the mystery menu, so you have no reservations or perceptions about what you are about to be served. It might be a good idea to wear something older and not your new favorite cashmere sweater, and also make sure to ask for assistance in getting to the bathroom.
