Located in Holesovice, next to the flowing Vltava, is the Holesovicka Trznice or the Holesovice Market, known now as River Town. This market was once the central slaughterhouse and cattle market for the royal city of Prague under Austro Hungarian rule. Now it is a strange mixture of vendors and kiosks selling fake Louis Vuittons, imposter sunglasses, perfume, and cheap clothing. The real reason for a visit to the market is to check out the fruit and vegetable market. Over 40 booths boast locally grown produce straight from the farmers themselves; you can find quality goods such as honey, nuts, legumes, condiments, herbs, spices, and fruits and vegetables. An Asian food market opened recently as well.
