Located in Vinohrady on lively Korunni Street, Taverna Kri Kri is a cozy traditional Greek restaurant with the friendliest staff and some of the most affordable Greek food available in Prague. Welcoming, colorful and downright pleasant, this restaurant features a small dining room, a few outdoor sidewalk tables and free Wi-Fi as well. Like most Greek restaurants the menu is quite large and with the affordable prices at Taverna Kri Kri I am guessing that your eyes will be bigger than your stomach! The list of appetizers is mouth-watering; I decided on the tzatziki, which was simply wonderful as it was light, fluffy and fresh, a pure delight combined with Taverna Kri Kri’s warm pita bread, the grilled feta served with hot peppers hit the spot, and the gigantes (absolutely huge white beans served in a spicy and sweet tomato sauce) were something out of a dream (if you are a bean lover). For the main course I sampled their mixed vegetable risotto, a large tasty portion that I would happily eat again, and their delicious kolokithokeftedes (fried zucchini), which were by far the best I have ever had. I was very impressed with Taverna Kri Kri for several reasons; their food was very good and quite authentic, something that does not happen in Prague too often as inspiration from Czech cuisine always seems to sneak in; the quality dishes were big portions and definitely fresh (impressive for the price), the red house wine was refreshing after too many glasses of Frankovka in the past, and the staff was competent, friendly and very welcoming. I will definitely be going back to Taverna Kri Kri to sample different items from their menu!
