BOriSS Restaurant

Located in New Town in the wine cellar of the Autoclub Praha is the Russian restaurant BOriSS. The intimate wine cellar houses a cozy and warm establishment that will transport you to the heart of St. Petersburg. The wine cellar’s comfortable interior features a while marble floor covered with dark red rugs and dark wooden furniture, a perfect place to visit on a cold winter’s night. The walls are adorned with hanging wrought iron candleholders and dried floral arrangements, while traditional Matryoshka dolls, trinkets and painted lacquer boxes are placed sporadically about. The overall Russian effect is made perfect by dramatic classical music that floats about the room from the restaurant’s sound system (live Russian folk music is also provided from time to time). The Russian cuisine offered at BOriSS is tasty, hearty and traditional. For a starter we suggest trying Pelmeni, a delicious type of dumpling made with unleavened dough that originated in Tatarstan, Siberia, filled with chicken and served with sour cream; other fillings are available such as beef, mushrooms, mixed meat or salmon. For a main course we would like to suggest the chicken or beef šašlik, a massive kebab complete with grilled vegetables and a delicious tomato pesto sauce, served with a large tasty portion of potatoes (baked or mashed). The menu at BOriSS also boasts the traditional Russian soup Borsch, pancakes, many caviar dishes, salads, steaks, fish and more, plus a good wine menu (the Moravian Modry Portugal is a winner) and of course, a vodka menu with 12 different types. For dessert we highly suggest the Tiramisu with a pot of black Russian tea sweetened with cherries. Even though Tiramisu does not belong to Russian cuisine, we must stress that BOriSS features one of the best and biggest portions of Tiramisu in Prague with a perfect amount of liquor, mascarpone cheese, cocoa powder and even sprinkled chocolate on top! With a friendly professional staff (with traditional Russian waiter uniforms), delicious and traditional Russian cuisine and a warm and inviting atmosphere, BOriSS Restaurant gets our vote as the best Russian cuisine in Prague! BOriSS Restaurant requires a reservation and is open from 6 p.m. – 12 a.m.
