Situated in the intriguing area close to the Vltava River, Palackého náměstí and Vyšehrad, an ancient landmark in Prague is the delightful Oliva Restaurant and cafe. Oliva features an airy and fresh interior with emphasis on the color green, friendly atmosphere and delicious Mediterranean cuisine. This restaurant, operated by a young married couple Světlana Červenková and Peter Červenka with a shared passion for good food and drink, offers delightful dishes with empathsis on healthy olive oil from around the world and the olive oil culture itself, which is why when you arrive you will receive a sampler of international olive oils alongside homemade bread. The couples’ culinary experience throughout the years in Prague, Berlin and Vienna certainly shines through when you taste the simple goodness and quality of their offered dishes; and with seasonal menus that are regularly varied, there is nothing stopping you from returning time and time again to savor the true flavors of the Mediterranean. The dishes are always homemade and are prepared fresh with love. We recommend the Mixed Green Salad (with roasted red bell peppers stuffed with feta cheese with basil) or the Tiger Prawns Skewer (with haloumi cheese and pineapple served with spicy tomato salsa with mint) for a starter, the Linguine with Mussels (with white wine and herbs) for a pasta, the Fillet of Seabass (on sweet and sour aubergine with pine nuts) for a fish dish and the Beef Fillet Bavette (served with reduction of red wine with shallots, potato gratin and string beans with bacon) or the Duck Breast Magret (with raspberry sauce mange tout and grilled polenta) for a meat dish, and last but certainly not least, the selection of olives according to their offer. Oliva also offers an all you can eat Tiger Prawn Menu including prawns with garlic and herbs prawns with fine ginger sauce, prawns with cognac sauce and prawns in a spicy coconut sauce. For dessert we recommend you sample the Chocolate Gateau (made with dark Valrhona chocolate served with creamy pistachio sauce) or the Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream (sprinkled with extra virgin olive oil and fleur de sel). Do not forget to enjoy your dinner with some of the delicious wines or homemade lemonades. At Oliva they also have a choice of Italian, French and Spanish sausages, cheeses and homemade delicacies that you can take home with you, which will remind you of the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant. Do not miss the culinary excursions to various countries that you can visit thanks to Oliva without even leaving Prague. Bon appétit!
