Wine production has a tradition almost as long as is the history of our civilization. The first evidence of it goes back to 4000 BC in ancient Egypt. Since then, however, human experience, wisdom and developing technologies have greatly refined and perfected the resulting product. Some of the finest samples of this drink of the gods can be ordered in Le Terroir, a unique restaurant in the Old Town of Prague created by true wine lovers, for true wine lovers. It is not an exaggeration to say that delicious wine is what this restaurant is all about. Even though, however, the wine list includes more than a thousand wines, it would be wrong to suppose that this restaurant has nothing else to offer. Le Terroir was born in the minds of its two co-owners, Vit Hepnar and Jan Puncochar. While Mr. Hepnar is a dedicated sommelier who works hard so that you are offered the best wines to be found on the market, Mr. Puncochar is a talented young chef who will prepare a delightful meal that will not only respect and heighten the taste of your wine but will also create a perfect harmony with it. If this sounds too good to be true you should know that both co-owners are so dedicated to make your dining experience at their restaurant perfect that they do all the work by themselves, using the little free time they have to taste and buy new wines and fresh ingredients. This unceasing enthusiasm and activity enables them to change the menu and the wine list every eight weeks. Located in an arched late Roman, early Gothic cellar near Old Town Square, Le Terroir is perfect for a magical dinner with your special ones. Discover the harmony of tastes and unique dedication to quality in a restaurant run by those who share your passion for great food and wine. We recommend the asparagus and scallops as a starter, beef filet with lavender sauce as the main course, and a selection of French cheeses, or strawberries with marinated rhubarb and almond cake to top it all off.
