Mon Ami
Mon Ami is a family-run restaurant with two locations in Zizkov and Vrsovice that serves delicious and authentic Balkan and Mediterranean cuisine. The interior of the restaurant is simple yet attractive with high ceilings, potted tropical plants and soft colors with the Vrsovice location boasting a large terrarium full of friendly turtles big and small. With an attractive setting, a warm staff and a large menu featuring authentic treats at affordable prices, Mon Ami is a true winner. The food served at Mon Ami is the real winner here and you will be pleasantly satisfied with the restaurant’s wide variety of appetizers, salads, pasta dishes, pizzas, fish, poultry and meat entrees. We heartily recommend the fresh and colorful Bruschetta (a huge portion of the traditional appetizer) and the Uštipci (homemade bread lightly fried served with cheese sauce or roasted mushrooms) as starters, the ćevapčići (delicious grilled minced ground beef and lamb, served on a homemade somun or pita with onions, mustard and ajvar), the Pork with Dried Plums in rum and wine sauce served with gnocchi, or the broiled Flamed Trout (served with spinach and boiled potatoes) as a main course, and the Pancakes (crepes) with chocolate and hot raspberries as dessert. Mon Ami’s pizzas are all winners as well and we recommend the classic Margherita (tomatoes, eidam cheese, mozzarella and basil) and the Prosciutto Crudo (tomatoes, mushrooms, parmesan, ham, olives and mozzarella). If you wish for a lighter meal, the Chicken Caesar Salad is a delicious version with a light dressing. Do not miss the Ajvar (available as a side order for 25CZK) a mouthwatering spread or relish made from red bell peppers with garlic and chili pepper. Mon Ami also features complex Macedonian red and white wines that are worth a try. Mon Ami is our top choice if you wish to sample Balkan cuisine in the city of Prague.
