Friday 22 July 19:00–21:00 – open talk "Mind, the way to happiness" Many people spend a lot of time dwelling on the past, planning for the future, and going through their daily lives on autopilot. They live in the hope that once they achieve this or that, and external circumstances are adjusted to their liking, they will undoubtedly come closer to that imaginary state of absolute happiness and contentment. But what are the ingredients that really do have the potential to contribute to true happiness? And how to stay happy despite the often agonizing circumstances of today's world? In this talk, Mingyur Rinpoche will elaborate on how to become acquainted with the natural qualities of our mind and an inner source of joy and peace that is independent of external conditions. Weekend 23.–24. July – Meditation Retreat "Awareness, Compassion and Wisdom: the Essential teachings on the Joy of Living" This weekend event offers a unique opportunity to practice the Joy of Life teachings under the direct guidance of Mingyur Rinpoche. Rinpoche will give practical advice on using meditation to cultivate awareness, compassion, and wisdom, sharing insights from his own experience and illuminating key points of meditation practice. The Joy of Living is a secular path of meditation practice that was created by Mingyur Rinpoche. Though rooted in the ancient Buddhist teachings of Tibet, these practices are not religious in nature. They deal with basic functions of the mind, such as mindful awareness and the impulse to move toward happiness and away from suffering. In working with these qualities of mind, the practitioners gradually transform their relationship to present-moment experience, learning to approach their thoughts, feelings, and sensory experiences with unconditional warmth and acceptance. The daily schedule will include teaching sessions with Mingyur Rinpoche, as well as guided meditation and Q&A sessions. This event is suitable for both novice and experienced meditators. The retreat is not residential. Participants are asked to take care of their own accommodation and meals. Drinks and small snacks will be available on site.
