The Language School of the Capital City of Prague

A school with a ninety-year long tradition, the Language School of the Capital City of Prague, was long known as the “language school on Národní“, as its headquarters was located on Národní Třída for almost 70 years. The long tradition of language teaching is a guarantee of the quality of the language courses offered, whether you want to learn any of the main world languages used in and around Europe or if you prefer a more exotic language. The Language School of the Capital City of Prague was founded in 1920-21, but until 1940 only English was taught there and the students were mainly trade and industry officials. In the 1980s over 30 languages were taught at the school, of which German was the most in-demand. The Language School of the Capital City of Prague now offers a variety of courses for the general public, high school graduate language study, courses for translators and interpreters, courses for companies, Czech for foreigners and much more. You can also take state language exams or international language exams here. Foreigners who want to apply for permanent residency in the Czech Republic can sit for the Czech language exam for foreigners at the school. The language courses are scheduled evenly throughout the day and so students can choose a course at their level usually from several terms. Courses take place from September till June, but students can enroll in courses any time during the year and then pay only a proportional part of the tuition fee. Courses take place either directly in the main school building at Školská or in nearby buildings in the city center.
