Liberec ZOO

A zoological garden is an ideal place for a trip with children. Do not hesitate to set off for the Liberec ZOO in northern Bohemia. The Liberec ZOO was founded in 1919, and is the oldest zoological garden in the territory of the former Czechoslovakia. With around 170 animal species bred in the zoo you will definitely enjoy a great day full of the diversity of Mother Nature. During the summer season a sightseeing train is in operation, while the Gibbon buffet is open all year long. Besides animals that are popular and commonly bred in zoos such as elephants, lions and giraffes the Liberec ZOO  is the only zoo outside of the Asian continent which breeds the Himalayan even-toed ungulate, the Golden Takin, which it acquired in 2002 from the Peking Zoo and which successfully managed to rear its first young in 2004. It is also the only zoo in the Czech Republic to have been breeding White Bengal Tigers since 1994. If you will be arriving by car, you can conveniently park in the paid parking lot directly at the zoo. If traveling by train or bus, you will reach the zoo by taking a tram from either the bus or train stations. If you want to support the zoo and its endangered species in their natural environments, you can buy a variety of gifts online at the zoo e-shop, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the zoo and endangered animals around the world.
