Lionel Richie, an American singer-songwriter and record producer started off in the world of show business in the musical group the Commodores as a singer and saxophonist. The Commodores were a popular R&B, soul group who had such big time hits as “Machine Gun” and “Brick House.” Following years of successful song writing that Richie was commissioned to do on the side of his career in the Commodores, he would eventually break out and start a solo career in 1982.
