PAW24: Palác Savarin
PAW24: Palác Savarin
For the first time since its extensive renovation, the Savarin Palace will open to the public and come alive with art during PAW24. For this purpose, the historical building has been lent to the festival by its main partner, Crestyl, which has been renovating the site since 2021. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire the architecture of the palace plus three exhibitions of contemporary art. There will also be several design pieces from The Design, inviting visitors to enjoy a nice coffee in the atrium of the palace together with the official distributor of free coffee at PAW24, De’Longhi. *The exposition will include three exhibitions:* - Young Selection - Tron Was Here - To Be, or Not to Be, That Is the Question The exhibition Young Selection comprises paintings, sculptures, and glass objects by ten selected young artists. Lenka Bakešová from Prague Art Week, Alexandra Bízková and Adam Hnojil from the investment fund Pro arte, curators Jan Reindl and Eva Vele, Jakub Kodl, owner of KodlContemporary, and Matyáš Kodl from Artslimit, were involved in the selection of talents in whom they see great potential and whose work they recommend following. In addition, two suitable works by selected artists are included in the Artslimit 8 autumn online auction. On 5 and 6 September there will be a preview of the exhibition for the press, experts, VIP guests of the festival, and PAW PASS holders. From 7 to 8 September, the exhibition will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. free of charge by booking online via the program at www.pragueartweek.cz or in person at the palace. The auction of selected works by Ester Parásková, Michaela Červená, and Anna Martínková will run throughout the exhibition and will culminate on the portal artslimit.com on 22 September 2024. The exhibition To Be or Not to Be, That Is the Question of glass masters Rony Plesl and Martin Janecký showcases an exceptional fusion of traditional glassmaking techniques with modernist and avant-garde approaches in contemporary art. Rony Plesl, renowned for his progressive concepts and precise work with material structure, alongside Martin Janecký, known for his masterfully crafted figurative sculptures from blown glass, present their first joint exhibition. The exhibition highlights the extraordinary craftsmanship and creative ingenuity of both artists, who redefine the boundaries of glass art and serve as an inspiration for future generations of glassmakers. Michal Škapa’s neon installation Tron Was Here at the entrance to the Savarin Palace on the street Na Příkopě reflects the bustling atmosphere of Prague and represents a fascinating fusion of modern art and urban culture.
