Macbeth
Even as he bathes in blood, Macbeth thinks about his humanity, looking at his actions as the expression of some larger thought: a black thought, to be sure, but a thought. He reminds us that man is a self-reflective animal. Macbeth is the kind of person we could be if someone pushed the wrong buttons on us. When we shudder at his crimes, we shudder at ourselves. Performed in German with Czech subtitles.
