Bitter and sweet, bilious and magnificent. This is how Pollesch and Hinrichs open themselves up to the moods of our times. While proxy fights about the Middle East are taking place on campuses, while just this Sunday pro-Palestinian protests interrupted a performance about Hannah Arendt at Hamburg train station, they stand there shaken in their trust of the world, struggling to hold on to the comedy that has always been their mainstay and point to the last shreds of certainty: “560 million years ago, the world didn't know what violence was. That is, under the ‚arthropods‘.” How could this peace process be revived? Performed in German with Czech subtitles.
