The Subways

The Subways

*The Subways will perform at Lucerna Music Bar on December 2, 2025*. The Subways are a British rock band formed in 2002 in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The band was founded by siblings Billy and Charlotte Lunn, who teamed up with drummer Josh Morgan. The Subways combine elements of indie rock, punk, and garage rock, creating their distinctive sound. After Josh Morgan left in 2015, the band continued as a trio and later invited new members. Their debut album Young for Eternity (2005) was a success, thanks to singles like Rock & Roll Queen and Oh Yeah. This album is considered their breakthrough and helped establish them on the British indie scene. The Subways are known for their energetic and dynamic music, which is built on strong guitar riffs, fast tempos, and emotionally charged lyrics. Their musical style is influenced by British bands such as The Clash, The Libertines, and The Strokes. In 2008, they released their second album All or Nothing, which brought new sounds, including a broader use of electronic elements, but still maintained their signature, fierce rock style. The band continued to release successful albums, including Money and Celebrity (2011) and The Subways (2015), which reflected the evolution of their sound and lyrics.
