Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design
The foundation of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague was inspired by architectural theorist Gottfried Semper's ideas and concepts of the synthesis of artistic and technical aspects, which explains the nature of the school. The Academy is involved in a number of interesting international projects, enriching the educational system in applied arts disciplines, and last but not least, focusing on publishing books on art and organizing school exhibitions. Students can choose from five faculties, which cover twenty-three art studios in the areas of architecture, design, free arts, applied arts and graphics. The sixth department provides education in art history and aesthetics. The heads of the art studios are trained professionals, true experts from the Czech Republic and abroad. The Academy organizes a range of lectures and courses for the public, operates a gallery and focuses on science and research. The gallery was established in 2000 and seeks to balance the retrospective exhibitions with exhibitions of contemporary art. It focuses on young artists and curators, who represent the creative potential for the future.
