Holesovice Fruit and Vegetable Market
Located in Holesovice, next to the flowing Vltava, is the Holesovicka Trznice or the Holesovice Market. This market was once the central slaughterhouse and cattle market for the royal city of Prague under Austro-Hungarian rule. Now it is a strange mixture of vendors and kiosks selling fake Louis Vuittons, imposter sunglasses, perfume, gadgets, and cheap clothing. The real reason for a visit to the market is to check out the fruit and vegetable market. Over 40 booths boast locally grown produce straight from the farmers themselves; you can find quality goods such as honey, nuts, legumes, condiments, herbs, spices, and fruits and vegetables. You will also find second-hand goods, furniture, camping gear and quality diving equipment, a butcher and baker, a gardening superstore, an ironmonger, and so much more. Virtually anything you need you can find at the Holesovice Market. An Asian food market and antique hall opened recently as well. Holesovice Market has a rockin' nightlife scene as well with the popular SaSaZu nightclub and SaSaZu Restaurant, as well as the new Mercado Ristorante offering excellent Italian cuisine in a clean and classy environment.
