Alfred ve dvoře
Alfred ve dvoře, or Alfred in the Courtyard, the stage for new theater in Prague is situated in Prague 7, and focuses on new performances with progressive styles and unique and creative projects. The theater focuses on live physical art in the theater with visual performances and works that are purely experimental. In this aspect it is interesting to note that a language barrier will not occur in certain pieces, so if you are searching for something modern and different because you find yourself falling asleep in the city’s classical performances and you don’t speak Czech, you could be in luck. The artists and actors involved at the theater do not work for a certain troupe or company, making all of the performances project and creation based with very loose interpretations of artistic traditions and strict disciplines. Alfred ve dvoře started as a mime theater in 1997 when Ctibor Turba founded it; it is currently run by the Motus institute. Alfred ve dvoře boasts a fascinating contemporary building built between 1996 and 1997 and designed by architects Jindřich Smetana and Tomáš Kulík.
