PKF - Prague Philharmonia

If you are a fan of classical music, do not miss the concerts performed by PKF – Prague Philharmonia, one of the best professional orchestras in the Czech Republic. PKF – Prague Philharmonia organizes concerts in Prague, takes part in festivals all around the Czech Republic and performs abroad quite regularly, in the US, Asia and other European countries. The orchestra was founded in 1994 at the initiative of the world-famous conductor Jiří Bělohlávek and under his leadership has developed into one of the most recognized Czech musical ensembles with a worldwide reputation. Today, PKF's music director and chief conductor is Emmanuel Villaume, a French conductor based in Dallas, who performs on prominent opera and concert scenes all around the globe, in cities such as New York, London, and Paris. Emmanuel Villaume joined PKF at the beginning of the 2015–16 season. Thanks to him, the orchestra has been tackling new challenges and due to this, constantly developing ever since. The motto of Emmanuel Villaume’s PKF is virtuosity, both in the art of the foreign guests & conductors and in the art of the members of the orchestra. PKF has been winning the hearts of audiences and the music critics for quite a while now, which is evidenced by their many recordings for prominent Czech and foreign labels. With the average age of 34, PKF is a young orchestra and performs in various concert halls in Prague. An updated program for the current season is always available on the official website mentioned below. Worth mentioning is also that PKF – Prague Philharmonia was the first orchestra in the Czech Republic to organize concerts designed specifically for children and parents, which are nowadays very popular. In an interactive and playful way, these concerts present children with different music elements and functions. What is more, thanks to the beautiful setting of Dvořák Hall, the children (often for the first time) get the chance to experience the magical atmosphere of the Rudolfinum. Moreover, PKF presents Concerts for School both in Czech and English and the Notička Children's Club for children, ages four to fourteen, offering them an introduction to the world of music and a chance to meet musicians and get to know their instruments and also to improve other aesthetic skills, such as drawing and acting.
