Ceramic Studio Prague
Two artist friends from a small town in Bulgaria where pottery has a long tradition started the Ceramic Studio Prague, a comfortable and friendly place where you can experiment and shape with your hands the natural element and healing material of clay. The founders, Ivan and Lubomír, who graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Sophia, continue to take part in pottery exhibitions in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, proof that their pottery art is ongoing and continuously changing with new ceramic trends in mind. The studio presents a spacious workshop area where beginners, regulars and advanced students can get their hands dirty and let their creative energies flow. Ceramic Studio Prague offers lectures, workshops, master classes, conferences and more for varying levels of participants. The programs offered at Ceramic Studio Prague cover the basic techniques for making and shaping pottery including throwing, turning, hand building, modeling, mould making and pressing as well as decorative techniques such as stencils, brushwork, colored inlay and glazes. Specific courses are devoted to earthenware, glazing, functional tableware, sculptural forms and large-scale pieces with themes such as animals, figures and tiles. Ceramic Studio Prague also features guided tours for families, private groups, etc. The 45-60 minute tour starts with a 10-minute video about the history of ceramics after which artists meet with people to present the techniques and finished products. The tour allows time for visitors to experiment with clay, which in turn will add appreciation of the art form. After the tour guests can feel free to purchase gifts in the creative art shop and café.
