Rudolfinum Gallery
The Rudolfinum Gallery is a spacious and attractive art gallery situated in the multi-purpose Rudolfinum cultural complex, which houses a gorgeous concert hall and a grand turn of the last century café. J. Schulz, who also designed the National Theater in Prague, which is a beautiful example of Historicist architecture in central Europe, designed this neo Renaissance building. The location of the Rudolfinum complex is an important one as it creates a cultural center in the heart of Prague alongside the Faculty of Philosophy, the Academy of Decorative Arts and the Museum of Decorative Arts. The Rudolfinum gallery opened its doors in 1994 after an extensive and meticulous reconstruction and has been displaying avant-garde modern and contemporary international art ever since and continues to hold a grip over the current art scene in the capital city of Prague. The gallery also displays older art from time to time in order to display unexpected art connections that could and do most certainly occur. The gallery display works from the international art scene from famous artists as well as up-and-coming, emerging artists, presenting individual and collective projects. The gallery does not have its own collection, which ensures that each temporary exhibition is always different and always intriguing to the viewer’s eye. The gallery presents around one thousand five hundred square meters of exhibition space. Gallery Rudolfinum is a true cultural gem situated in a perfect setting, one of which provides the opportunity to experience the culture of art and music.
