The Golden Ring House - City Gallery Prague
Hidden on tiny Týnská street near Old Town Square is the Golden Ring House, an exhibition space of City Gallery Prague. Originally, the medieval Golden Ring House consisted of two buildings that were later merged into one. Its early Gothic period cellars and the corridor on the first floor with barrel vaulting and fragments of wall paintings from the late 15th century have been preserved until today. The Golden Ring House hosts a permanent exhibition presenting the big names of the Czech art scene of the 20th century, such as Toyen, Josef Šíma, Jan Zrzavý and Jiří Kolář, as well as contemporary artists. Its temporary exhibitions focus on various art schools or a particular artist. In the reading room on the second floor of the building you can leaf through exhibition catalogues, art publications on works of artists represented in the collections of City Gallery Prague, or immerse in the study of various scholarly texts. After visiting the gallery you can refresh yourself in the popular Týnská literary café located in the rear part of the building.
