Prague Army Museum
Located on Vítkov Hill in the Prague district of Žižkov is the Prague Army Museum. The Prague Army Museum shares Vítkov Hill with the National Liberation Memorial where you can find the world’s tallest equestrian statue with Hussite Leader and Commander Jan Zizka perched atop a massive horse. The Prague Army Museum is divided into three spacious sections. The sections are as such: World War I, 1914 – 1918 (where you can find information about Czech and Slovak involvement in the war and information about the constitution of the Czechoslovak Republic), the Czechoslovak Republic and its military between the two World Wars, and the third section, the involvement of Czechs and Slovaks in military operations and home resistance aimed towards the independence of Czechoslovakia. At the Prague Army Museum you can witness many fascinating items including uniforms, flags, weapons, banners, medals of Honor, marks of distinction and personal memorabilia. It is interesting to note that the personal memorabilia is not only from soldiers but also from Czechoslovak presidents and important military leaders. The Prague Army Museum is open everyday from 10:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. except Mondays and entrance to the museum is free of charge (At the time of this review’s publication opening hours and prices were as stated above).
