Tomas Garrigue Masaryk (1850 – 1937)

Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, founder and first president of an independent Czechoslovakia, was a remarkable man who stood for democracy and harmony. Under his leadership (1918-1935) Czechoslovakia became the 10th biggest industrial power in the world and experienced cultural growth and wealth. He was a legendary president and left behind books on philosophy, politics, and history.
