Galerie Supermarket WC

Gallery Supermarket WC is a gallery, shop with design goods and a small café in the center of Karlovy Vary, where it was created in 2008 from a former public toilet and a left-luggage office. The unkempt building was turned into a multifunctional space with barrier-free access thanks to the civic association PROTEBE live. The venue is used not only for exhibitions but also for lectures, forums, gatherings of young people, representatives of various organizations and the public. An adjoining underpass also belongs to the gallery where projects are exhibited directly in public space and so direct communication with passers-by can go on. The aim of the Gallery Supermarket WC is to provide space for art that fits well into public spaces. The gallery's exhibition program presents design in a social context. Gallery Supermarket WC provides space to beginning or previously unknown artists and to non-profit organizations. The gallery can be rented for private or public events with catering and related services. Visitors to the gallery can refresh themselves in the mini café and spend money by purchasing exciting creations in the design shop and so support the gallery itself, since the proceeds are spent on its operation and further development. The gallery, shop and café are open on weekdays between 1pm and 6pm.
