Artemide

Located in the popular Art Nouveau Prague district of Vinohrady is Artemide, the renowned Italian manufacturer of design lighting. Founded by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza in 1958 in the designer city of Milan, Artemide is world famous for manufacturing unique lighting designed by well-known international architects and designers. Artemide most famous products are the Tizio Desk Lamp from 1972 created by Richard Sapper and Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina’s Tolomeo Desk Lamp from 1986. Both of these design lamps are considered to be icons of Italian modern design. Numerous awards have descended upon the company including the Compasso d’Oro award (1995 lifetime achievement award) and the 1997 top European Design Prize. Many Artemide designs can also be found in modern and contemporary art museums around the world. Artemide has collaborated with Mario Botta, Ettore Sottsass, Enzo Mari and Luigi Serafini to name a few well know designers. You should not definitely leave out the Artemide lighting studio if you are looking for quality and unique design lighting for your interior. Artemide also imports design lighting from Ingo Maurer.
