Located in New Town, just outside of what once were the city walls, is the Vegetarian Restaurant and Club Govinda. Govinda is part of The Center for Vedic Studies which belongs to The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Hare Krishna Movement). This peaceful group of followers make tasty vegetarian delights daily, which are low priced and taste fresh, exotic and very good. What's more, you can also order all of the offered meals to go. You can purchase the daily menu, which includes a main dish (vegetable meal with rice), a dessert, a soup and a salad; the lunch is available in small or large versions while with the large version seconds are completely free. Other options are also offered such as fried Samosas and many other specialties of Indian cuisine. The dining room, decorated colorfully and traditionally-inspired by the wall-painting in the Rajasthan Villages, is always packed, proof that the quality of the food is excellent, as people come back everyday for their regular treats. The Vegetarian Club and Restaurant also features a cultural center located on the bottom floor of the club where you can purchase traditional Indian goods such as clothes, cosmetics, jewelry, spices and much more at low prices. The cultural center offers lectures, the Vaisnava Theater, singing and traditional Indian instrument performances as well as philosophical discussions every Wednesday in the early evening. Govinda is a good place for a solid meal at a decent price and you can also feel good about eating with and from the Hare Krishna Movement in the Czech Republic and their healthy food for the body, mind and soul. Govinda has two locations in Prague and another sister restaurant called Balarama. The organic bakery Nikai is located in the same building as the Govinda restaurant in Soukenicka and offers exclusive products made of flour from the Hare Krishna Krisnuv Dvur farm.
