Zlatý Anděl | Prague

Zlatý Anděl

In the bustling, business area of Andel is the Zlatý Anděl (golden angel) building, the other famous post 1989 contemporary building in Prague, known second only to the famous Dancing House by Croatian born Czech architect Vlado Milunic and Canadian born American architect Frank Gehry. These two controversial buildings are the crème de la crème of contemporary architecture in the city of one hundred spires, a city known specifically for its vast array of architectural styles. World-renowned French architect Jean Nouvel, winner of the Pritzker prize and a true pioneer of contemporary architecture designed Zlatý Anděl. The unique building rises out of the ground and sweeps forward with a slightly macabre large scale, translucent man wearing a dark trench coat and bearing wings. The side of the unique building features a transparent panorama of the mother city Prague.
