Zouk Prague

Zouk is a popular style of rhythmic music originating in Martinique and Guadeloupe, a sensual genre of music that gave birth to a specific kind of dance style called the Lambada. The Lambada is famous as an exotic and sensual dance style and has influenced other areas of dancing and is closely related to the Zouk dancing style. Zouk, one of the most popular dances of the 21st century, combines smooth, flowing, romantic and expressive style elements together with fluent long movements. Zouk is popular as it is all together sensual, elegant, exotic and graceful. The Zouk style of dancing is present in such cities as Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires, London, New York, Mallorca, Barcelona, and Amsterdam and now, the city of Prague thanks to Zouk dancers Ema Brunclíková and Emilson Bernardes da Silva. Ema Brunclíková, dancer, instructor, organizer, promoter and most of all, lover of Zouk is responsible for bringing this lovely Latin dance to the gorgeous city of Prague. The Czech native has danced since she was 15 years old and has experience with dance groups Tradición grupo de baile and Brazil Show Dance Company and with a variety of dances including Lambada Zouk, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Samba, Merengue, Cabaret, Ballet, Modern dance and more. Furthermore she has performed in Monaco, Monte Carlo and the Czech Republic and has taught dance lessons in the prestigious Holmes Fitness Center and also organizes workshops with famous international Zouk dancers. The inspiring dance partnership of Ema Brunclíková and Emilson Bernardes da Silva is evident while watching the two dancers perform a Zouk dance. Emilson Bernardes da Silva also started dancing at the age of 15 and has international experience in the Lambada Zouk, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Samba de gafieira, Forro, Bolero, and Fox Trot and also has impressive Capoeira skills. In Prague since 2006, Emilson Bernardes da Silva has been working with the Brazil Show Dance Company and Ema Brunclíková. Zouk lessons are held every Monday at Jet Set bar in New Town (V Jámě 6, Praha 1) and every Tuesday at the Fragola Project restaurant and bar (V Kolkovně 1, Praha 1). The dance Lessons are followed by Zouk dance parties. Besides Zouk, you can also learn the Argentine Tango, Salsa and the Samba.
