Zig-Zag Tap & Swing Dance Studio
The Zig-Zag Dance Studio in the center of Prague focuses on teaching the dance style of the 1920s and 1930s, especially step and swing but its offer also includes modern dance that has origins mainly in the Afro-American style of dance. Zdeněk Pilecký, a former dancer and choreographer of the ballet of Karlín Musical Theater and State Opera Prague founded the dance studio in 1998. Besides courses for adults and children that include step, jazz, swing, Irish dance and acrobatics, the studio also holds seminars, organizes a summer dance school, a dance competition in step, and its part is also a dance group performing with its step, swing and other repertoire at commercial events. Children from six years of age can enroll in step courses, from eight years they can continue in courses for intermediate dancers. After an agreement with an instructor children can also participate in other courses of the dance studio. Besides Dlouhá Street, courses take place also at TJ Sokol Kampa's Tyrš House, at the Sázavská elementary school in Prague 2 and at JamCafé on Národní Street.
