Art Gallery for Children (GUD)

A unique gallery specially designated for children can be found in the immediate vicinity of the St. Nicholas Church near  Old Town Square in Prague. The Art Gallery for Children (GUD, or Galerie umění pro děti) is dedicated to children between 2 and 13 years of age and its aim is to support children's relationship with art through a multimedia space where different rules apply, compared to regular art galleries where it is forbidden to touch the exhibits. Here children become not only the most important visitors, but also co-creators of the exhibits. The exhibited works do not have any definite form but are created in such a way that children can participate in them and develop their imagination. In this way children have the possibility to try various art techniques, learn to know various materials and let all their senses deal with their creation. Children are not only exposed to art visually, as is common in classical galleries, but are involved actively through touch, ensuring that they remember and enjoy the experience much more and at the same time get to fully experience the works of art. Take your children to the Art Gallery for Children where children become the creators of art. The GUD is barrier-free to allow easy access to all, and children under 3 years of age have free admission. The entire family will certainly be actively entertained at GUD!
