The Globe

The Globe, hailed as a Prague institution – a title it surely deserves – is a lovely restaurant, café and bookstore with over 10,000 new and used titles ranging in diversity, located in the New Town section of Prague. The Globe, established in 1993, and famous as the first English bookstore in Prague, features some of the best home cooking in the city of Prague and offers juicy burgers, crisp salads, colorful pastas, a full American-style brunch on the weekends, and more, alongside delicious coffee, tea, cocktails, wine and beer. The stunning restaurant is located in the back of a historic building that dates back over 115 years and is an attractive space with red dramatic walls featuring original art that can be purchased, high windows, a gallery and a courtyard for al fresco dining during the warmer months. The bookstore is located in the front of the historic building. A cultural meeting point, The Globe features international newspapers in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian and German, and popular hard to find international magazines. Comfy chairs are provided in the shop so you can sit and meditate with a book if you so wish, as well as computers with internet access. The Globe offers the possibility of book trading and hosts cultural events and a rotating art display in addition to a permanent collection; some of the displayed pieces are available to purchase. The Globe also hosts Sunday night movie nights where you can relax with a few drinks all the while viewing a classic film, check the website for the viewing schedule. The Globe Bookstore and Café is a definite must for anyone who is fond of books, culture, food, and life.
